    {"coolThingsLearned":"Not to throw in the kitchen sink?! Actually, I'm not sure I learned that!? But it was a lesson on the table, I think. I was a tad un-restrained in my arrangement and ideas; Initially was thinking Cumbia, and a lot of it just \"happened sort of accidentally\" But it was certainly ALL my fault. I enjoy 'mixing in the box,' and for the first time used \"the King's Microphones\" which is an Abbey Road plug-in - - I learned they are great to make lots of things work in a mix - I'm a big Butch Vig vocals user, and the King's Mics are super useful. Is this too dorky to talk about? Butch is actually an old pal who's gone on to great success - he recorded my first 'record' at Smart Studio when it was in the Marquip building, and my early bands opened for Spooner and FireTown back in the day (Butch drummed in & produced those bands way before Nirvana & Garbage).     {"coolThingsLearned":"If I don't overthink it and just do it, I can make songs faster without as much stress. Is it as high quality? Who knows, but it's done instead of not getting done and that counts for something.","toolsUsed":"","happyAccidents":"","didntWork":""}

    {"coolThingsLearned":"I had heard a few Waxahatchee tunes over the past couple years, and I like this one a lot. I found it rewarding to really study the arrangement and composition - something I don't do very often, but will be doing more of, thanks to this group! \r\n\r\nThe original track is soooo laid back and even. When I threw it up in a Reaper session, it was interesting to see that it never departed from 67 BPM from first note to last. The levels and arrangement are also very even across the entire track, and I felt compelled to shake things up a bit. My gut told me to add some tempo variation, dynamics, and hooks that were a bit less subtle. I did not anticipate that my version would turn out so... er, Southern Rock, but after a few weeks of listening to the original, that's what came out and I went with it. My version is certainly nothing very original or groundbreaking, just what the muse delivered this time. I'm already looking forward to the next round. Cheers!","toolsUsed":"","happyAccidents":"","didntWork":""}
