    {"coolThingsLearned":"It's a fun and effective technique to put a ton of reverb on backing vocals. Also, Splice feels like a cheat code. It's such a powerful synth","toolsUsed":"Ableton live, Splice, SM58, ","happyAccidents":"","didntWork":""}

    {"coolThingsLearned":"Reverb goes a long way when it comes to overdriven guitar. I thought the raw track sounded terrible (no amplifier used, just direct into the interface) but when I added reverb on the computer I was pretty amazed at how much better it sounded. I was going to set up an actual amplifier and microphone for guitar, but it worked out great by adjusting it digitally instead.","toolsUsed":"Alesis electric drum kit, Hofner Violin Bass, PRS S2 Semi-Hollow guitar, Earthquaker Plumes Overdrive Pedal , Waveform Free, Zoom H5 interface","happyAccidents":"not really","didntWork":"not really"}

    {"coolThingsLearned":"using the pan feature to put different sounds in different places. I also learned how to effectively use the twist feature on my RC-505 mkii for builds and that I can have some track effects only assigned to certain tracks and not all of them ","toolsUsed":"OP-1, RC-505 mkii, microphone, scarlet thingy to record into Ableton.","happyAccidents":"no everything was deliberate no accidents. All of the accidents were sad ones.","didntWork":"I was originally trying to use some daft punk samples in the drop but it felt like too much. Also my effects jam in the second drop was meh, could have been better there. "}

    {"coolThingsLearned":"Tracking vocals after a night of heavy drinking increases my low-end vocal range by approximately 3 semitones.","toolsUsed":"Guitars. Keyboards. Reaper. VSTi drums. VSTi strings. A condenser microphone. Alcohol.","happyAccidents":"I would say most of this cover song is an accident, aside from the style which I was aiming for something that could fit in with A Perfect Circle's Thirteenth Step album.","didntWork":"I actually started this cover with a really nice folk idea. I tried tracking that and didn't like it. Then I had the APC idea, tracked some of that, and didn't like that. Then I went back to the folk version, and didn't like it some more. Eventually I just went with this one, and I don't really know how I feel about it."}

    {"coolThingsLearned":"I can put something together in less than four hours!","toolsUsed":"Guitar, microphone, interface, laptop, coffee","happyAccidents":"","didntWork":"A lot of guitar leads and riffs just sounded bad with the DAW amps/pedals, so I had to simplify a lot of stuff to get it to sound a little better."}

    {"coolThingsLearned":"First time trying to do LoFi music, so the whole process was new.","toolsUsed":"Reaper, Ozone, some percussions, our baby, and a broken HDD drive.","happyAccidents":"Yeah! I was formating some HDD drives when one just died. And it made cool noises, so I recorded it and added it to the song. Plus, I bought a small doppler and recorded our baby's heartbeats (kick drum), womb 'wind' (white noise for LoFi), and womb scratch (like vinyl scratch for a subtle riser). The rest of the percussions are a mix of a replica of an 808 drum (midi), plus some percussions like wooden sticks and metal shaker that were recorded.","didntWork":"Yeah, we wanted to record the bass, but Vincent used a pick to play... the sound was too aggressive because of it, and with the baby coming, we didn't have time to re-record it. I'm not totally satisfied with the end result. I think I could've worked more on the 'S' with a \\"DEesser' and listened to more lofi, but I hope it passes for the genre."}

    {"coolThingsLearned":"Sometimes really simple synth sounds can be the most effective","toolsUsed":"Ableton, Massive, Guitar","happyAccidents":"I didn't mean to record the vocals with that voice, I was playing around with the vocals and couldn't find a tone I was happier with","didntWork":"I wish I had pulled off more funky solos and fills, I couldn't really figure out how to make them fit naturally"}
